42 AgriTech startups awarded $2,000…

The selected startups will each receive $2,000 to grow their agricultural technology business ideas.

A total of 50 teams participated in this year’s AgriTech Challenge Classic pitch competition from 10
universities across Ghana.

After five months of training and mentorship, 22 university teams and 20 independent startups who
sent in their applications were chosen to participate in the 2024 AgriTech Pro Challenge.

“The future of Africa’s prosperity is in Tech and in Agribusiness. This will create economic empowerment for young people, and at KIC we are collaborating with partners to provide this personalized training program for young people

“Our program portfolio not only addresses mindset change about agriculture, but provides practical
training, tools, network and resources for entrepreneurial development”, said Benjamin Gyan-Kesse,
Executive Director of KIC.

“Through our partnership with KIC, the AgriTech Challenge Classic program, is providing employment
opportunities for young people within the agribusiness sector’, added Gottfried Odamtten-Sowah,
Program Lead- Agribusiness for Mastercard Foundation.

Some winning startups shared:
“With this seed money and opportunity to go ahead to the pro, we can do more,” said Green Heart
Social Enterprise based in Koforidua.

“The money given to us would be utilized to accelerate production and be more visible in the market.
We are hoping to be one of the biggest in our sector,” said Aretha Forson Enterprise.

“We will work hard to make our business a reality,” said TekCycle from KNUST.

The 10 participating universities in the AgriTech Challenge Classic were University of Ghana, Kwame
Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, Bolgatanga Technical
University, Takoradi Technical University, Ho Technical University, Koforidua Technical University,
University of Development Studies, SD Dombo University of Business & Integrated Development
Studies, and University of Energy and Natural Resource.

Twenty-two winning teams from these universities advanced to the AgriTech Challenge Pro: Agricems,
Agriquinns, Bunnybites, Cas-Tech Glue, DeliMush, Ecofibre Solutions, FEEP Fibertech, Greenhusk
Innovation, Greenwood, Harvest Ease Innovators, Healthy Farmer, Hullsnovation, Husk Pack Ghana,
NAYAD Foods, PaCo Paper, Rabbitton, Sunify Solardry Technology, SunRay, Tekcycle, and Zoyapel.

These 20 teams were joined by 20 additional startups that were accepted through the application
process for the 2024 AgriTech Pro.
